Physicians - Stephen L. Davidson, M.D.

Stephen L. Davidson, M.D., is a medical oncologist and hematologist as well as a partner at Montgomery Cancer Center.

He is also the medical director of clinical research, and a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. A graduate of both Samford University and the University of Alabama School of Medicine, Dr. Davidson is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine for internal medicine as well as medical oncology. He has conducted research in several areas, particularly breast cancer treatment and prevention; advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC); and follicular non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. In addition, he has co-written and presented several studies and papers on chemotherapy-induced anemia (CIA) and non-small cell lung disease.

Dr. Davidson's professional affiliations include the State of Alabama Medical Society, the Montgomery County Medical Society, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), the Jackson Hospital Cancer Committee, and the American Society of Hematology (ASH), among many others. He serves as an advisory board member for the American Cancer Society's Physicians Health Initiative, having won Volunteer of the Year at community, state and Mid-South divisions. He presently serves as the President of the Alabama Society of Clinical Oncology.

Other organizations with which he is involved are the Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama, Women of Hope, the Alabama World Affairs Council, Alabamians for Pain Relief, and John Ed Mathison Ministries. He has served as a diplomate-practitioner for writing medical oncology board examination questions and as a board exam question reviewer for the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is the director of the Montgomery Cancer Center Cancer Conference.

Dr. Davidson, his wife of 19 years, Suzanne, and children, Wyatt and Lela, attend the First United Methodist Church of Montgomery. When not active in Montgomery, Dr. Davidson and his family enjoy time together at Lake Martin, fishing, gardening and boating together.
