Davidson Elected President of State Oncology Organization

May 6, 2010

Montgomery Cancer Center has announced that partner Stephen L. Davidson, M.D., has been elected to a two-year term as president of the State of Alabama Society of Clinical Oncology and Alabama Cancer Congress.

The professional organization represents Alabama's providers of cancer medicine, promoting education, advocacy and community. Dr. Davidson, a medical oncologist and hematologist as well as the medical director of clinical research at Montgomery Cancer Center, has also served as an advisory board member for the American Cancer Society's Physicians Health Initiative, having won Volunteer of the Year at community, state and Mid-South divisions.

Venty Butts, administrator for Montgomery Cancer Center, said, "We're very proud to be associated with Dr. Davidson. Not only is he a highly accomplished physician who takes excellent care of his patients, he's also one of the true leaders in our state and our region when it comes to clinical oncology."

In addition, Davidson serves as a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. A graduate of both Samford University and the University of Alabama School of Medicine, Dr. Davidson is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine for internal medicine as well as medical oncology.

Opened in 1990, Montgomery Cancer Center is nationally respected for its oncology and hematology diagnostic and treatment services. The center is staffed by 14 physicians, including recognized leaders in their fields. Montgomery Cancer Center also offers its own diagnostic and imaging center for breast cancer, and a digital imaging center open to the general public as well as to cancer patients.
